석유, 달러, 미래 Oil, Dollar and the Future

석유 결제를 독점함으로서 자국화폐의 기축통화 지위를 확보하고, 그 공급을 조절 또는 강매함으로써 자신의 의지를 세계에 구현하는 미국이라는 국가가 있다. 자유민주주의의 이름으로 타국의 주권을 빼앗아도 국제 질서의 수호자였던 시기가 있다.

USA took control over the trading of major energy resource Oil, occupied the status of the World Currency with its Dollar, and implemented its will to the World by adjusting or manipulating the supply of that money. There was a period when it was regarded as the protector of the world order even when it took others' sovereignties in the name of the Liberal Democracy.

 

친환경 신재생에너지가 각광받고 전기차가 보급되는 시대에 석유의 지위가 흔들리고, 금융위기와 양적 완화, 코로나로 인한 경제 둔화, 정치적 이해관계에 따른 거래 제재 등으로 달러의 지위가 흔들리는 시대를 지나고 있다.

We are living the era where green energy is spotlighted, electric vehicles spread, and the status of Oil becomes unstable; financial crises occur, money is printed with QE, Covid slows the economies, economic sanctions are abused according to political interests, and the status of Dollar is uncertain.

 

그럼에도 나는 영어로 글을 남기고, 논문을 읽고, 회의에 참여하고, 세계의 친구들과 안부를 묻는다. 친구들은 미국에서 유학을 하거나, 대학원을 마치고 직장을 잡는다. 이성으로는 어색하다 생각하나 관성 때문인지 자연스럽게 느껴진다.

Though, I write down, read papers, participate meetings, and contact with friends over the world in English. Friends study or get jobs in US. I reason that it is awkward, but it feels natural maybe because of the inertia.
